Global Islamic Economy Summit 2018 or what is the future of the global Islamic economy

The Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina took part in the Global Islamic Economy Summit in Dubai (UAE) as a part of Tatarstan delegation.

The summit is the largest event in the world devoted to the Islamic economy. It brings together influential politicians and leading global experts from different industries to address the biggest challenges and opportunities in the Islamic economy. So, more than 3 thousand people are taking part in the summit.

"In the current conditions of global cooperation, the Islamic world is of special importance for our country, and Tatarstan plays here a key connecting role between the Russian regions and the Islamic countries. This summit allows not only to expand contact base and discuss specific forms of interaction with companies, but also to strengthen the economic image of Tatarstan in the international context. This is also the target audience of our annual forum "Russia-Islamic world", that is why a separate stand is presenting our event at the exhibition", - Taliya Minullina shared.

At the opening of the Summit, welcoming remarks were made by the Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, the Chairman of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry Majid Saif Al Ghurair and the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.

The government of the UAE appreciated the contribution of the Republic of Tatarstan. Rustam Minnikhanov was presented with a Lifetime Award for the development of the Islamic economy. The award was presented by the Crown Prince of the Emirate of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum. Their bilateral meeting was also held on the sidelines of the summit.

At the summit, the participants focused on the importance of trade opportunities, social development and ethical business investment. At a time when the International Monetary Fund warns the global economy is sliding into "secular stagnation" due to  falling commodity prices and slowing investment, the Islamic economy contrasts sharply, offering a viable solution for success in the twenty-first century. Each aspect of the Islamic economy is gaining rate of growth.

The international dialogue was organized within the framework of plenary sessions devoted to various topics. The Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina spoke at the session on designing a common future in the era of destruction and divergence. Taliya Minullina took part in the discussion with the representatives of the largest Islamic financial institutions and opinion leaders on how the threshold of the new technological revolution such technologies as blockchain and artificial intelligence are used to stimulate social and economic growth, and how to maintain a leading position in the period of universal consumption in the economy. Speakers shared their own experience in development of a sustainable Islamic economy and their vision of a viable future.

Along with Taliya Minullina, the Major of Turin (Italy) Chiara Appendino, the CEO of the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector Ayman Sejiny, the Chairman of Kuwait Finance House Hamad Abdul Mohsen Al Marzouq also took part in the discussion. The Editor of Reuters International Agency Axel Threlfall moderated the discussion.
