Tatarstan is a gathering place for all regions of Russia
On September 26–28, 2019 Tatarstan hosts the II Congress of regional investment agencies and development corporations.
The congress will be held in order to work out a consolidated position on the activities and development of specialized organizations to attract investments and work with investors in the Russian regions. The event is organized by the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan represented by the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency and the non-profit National Association of Investment and Development Agencies.
Since 2006, the Association has been pooling efforts of regions aimed at creating environment promoting the increase in investment attractiveness and inflow of investments. The Association chooses the most successful regions as the venue for the congress. Tatarstan will meet colleagues on the innovation infrastructure of the city of Innopolis using business events of a new format. The republic will present a city, unique to Russia, not only as a source of pride, but also as a hub for interregional cooperation. On the second day, the business program events will take place in the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency where participants may visit the Unified Presentation Center of the region.
In 2018, the investments from other regions increased by more than 10% compared to the previous year. The number of investing companies is in positive territory: in 2017 there were about 530, and the last year – more than 600 companies. About 25 regions are steadily becoming investors – these are Moscow and St. Petersburg inevitably, the Central and Volga Federal Districts, Siberia represented by the Chelyabinsk and Novosibirsk regions. In 2018, the Vologda, Irkutsk, Orenburg, Tomsk, Tyumen and Ulyanovsk regions joined to the regions investing in Tatarstan. In addition, Tatarstan attracts investments from the westernmost region of Russia – the Kaliningrad Region, and from the easternmost one – the Primorye Territory. So, in terms of geography, Tatarstan is a center of attraction for investments from all over Russia!
Among the key issues to be considered at the Congress are the participation of specialized organizations to work with investors in the implementation of national projects, the formation and federal approval of a unified register of the Russian development institutions, including specialized organizations to attract investments, regionally supporting entrepreneurs and investors or responsible for interacting with entrepreneurs and investors in the constituents of Russia. Also, at the venue of the event, the procedure for interaction between federal and regional development institutions and regulatory changes will be discussed in order to consolidate the concepts, status, functions and powers of regional development institutions.
The representatives of the World Bank, the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, federal and regional development institutions, foreign agencies to deal with investors, and the investment companies have been invited to participate in the business program. Such an event will strengthen the position of Tatarstan in the investment grade rating of the Russian regions.
