1 May 2013, Wednesday

Tatarstan Investment Development Agency and Thomson Reuters signed a memorandum of intentions in Dubai today on the matter of becoming an information partner for Kazan Smart City and participating in the development of the business infrastructure and information services of the project.

The memorandum was signed during a visit to Thomson Reuters’ Dubai office as part of an official visit of a delegation for the Republic of Tatarstan headed by President Rustam Minnikhanov to Dubai from 30 April to 2 May to participate in the III Annual Investment Meeting.

During the visit to Thomson Reuters, President Rustam Minnikhanov gave an interview to Thomson Reuters Economics Editor of Europe, Middle East and Africe Andrew Torchia and met with Thomson Reuters management to discuss the company’s plans for the region.

Under the memorandum, the international news agency will become an official information partner of Kazan Smart City and intends to open a representative office on the territory of Kazan Smart City.

“The signing of this memorandum will allow Tatarstan to reach investors regarding all necessary information about our priority investment projects, among them Kazan Smart City,” commented President Rustam Minnikhanov. “We would like to affirm our interest in mutual collaboration. The Tatarstan Investment Development Agency will continue to work with you in this matter.”

“The Republic of Tatarstan has always been a strategic partner of Thomson Reuters,” added Basil Moftakh, Managing Director of Thomson Reuters. “We already work with several companies in Tatarstan, and this memorandum will help us continue to develop new avenues of partnership, especially in the realization of Kazan Smart City.”

Representatives of Thomson Reuters visited Tatarstan in January of this year after having met with representatives of the Tatarstan delegation during an official delegation to London in November 2012 to participate in the seminar “Investment Opportunities of the Republic of Tatarstan.”
