Today, Rebekah Greenspan, the Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, at the invitation of the head of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Talia Minullina, paid an introductory visit to the Investment Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Taliya Minullina presented her with the economic and investment potential of Tatarstan at the Unified Presentation Center of the TIDA, after which Rebecca Greenspan gave a lecture to the TIDA staff, during which she spoke about key trends in the world economy and global trade, what tools help countries best cope with various shocks, and what role state and international institutions and economic diversification play in sustainable development. To illustrate her points, the Secretary-General cited the most current statistical data, the collection and analysis of which, among other things, is carried out by the commission she heads.
After the presentation, the Agency’s employees asked Rebecca Greenspan questions about new payment systems, standardization of law in the field of international trade and investment, and also invited her to the international economic forum “Russia-Islamic World: KAZANFORUM 2025”.
Also after the meeting, Ms. Greenspan took part in a press conference during which she commented on the criticism of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres after his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and participation in the BRICS summit: "Mr. Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary-General visited the BRICS summit, which he already spoke about in his speech, since he previously visited the summit when it was held in South Africa, this is an important part of the world, the world's population, because it is important for the global economy and I will remind you that he also took part in the "Big Seven" - she said.
We remind you that on October 23, Taliya Minullina delivered a report to the UN Secretary-General. Previously, she personally delivered reports to the UN twice: in Geneva (2019) and New York (2020) on the topic of sustainable development goals and women's rights, and continues to regularly cover these issues today at UNAAC conferences.
Head of the TIDA Taliya Minullina: "My staff and I are very familiar with the materials issued by the commission headed by Ms. Greenspan. It is a great honor for us to welcome the Secretary-General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development to the Agency. We could not even imagine that we would be able to meet in person and, especially, within the walls of the TIDA, demonstrate to her the economic and investment potential of Tatarstan."
