Director and producer Ilshat Rakhimbay told the head of the Investment Development Agency of Tatarstan Taliya Minullina the idea of a unique film project called “MIKULAY” - a psychological thriller with Viktor Sukhorukov in the title role.

The script of the film is based on the play of the same name by Mansur Gilyazov, which is already being staged in several theaters in Tatarstan and the CIS countries.

Also, three more well-known federal actors agreed to participate in the film - Ivan Dobronravov, Ekaterina Ageeva and Varvara Shmykova. The operator of the film will be one of the most popular Russian operators, a native of Kazan - Yuri Danilov.

According to the plot, an old man named Mikulai lives in an abandoned Kryashen village. Instead of fellow villagers, he made dolls from scrap materials: he has a young pregnant wife, parents, and fellow villagers who respect him endlessly. But one day a man comes to the village, who claims that he is the son of Mikulai, and the ideal world of the hero begins to crumble, revealing a terrible reality.

The start of the project is scheduled for September. Filming will take place in the Pestrechinsky district. At the meeting, Ilshat Rakhimbay showed photographs of the completed scenery, options for dolls, as well as footage from rehearsals with actors.

“We have already outlined certain steps to achieve the goals, this is the nomination of the film for the international“ class A ”film festivals, and we feel that this project, thanks to the unique team, is able to quite well declare itself and about the new wave of cinematography of the Republic,” noted director in conversation with Talia Minullina.

At the moment, the filmmakers are looking for partners, sponsors and investors who could help to implement this project at the proper level.
