The Imperial Hall of the Kazan Federal University today received guests and students at the opening ceremony of the Kazan Model UN.
The Kazan Model is being held for the fifth time at the Institute of International Relations and the Faculty of Law of Kazan Federal University with the support of the Russian Association for UN Assistance and MGIMO of the Russian Foreign Ministry. Marina Epifantseva, Deputy Head of the Agency, delivered a welcoming speech: “Kazan Federal University, and in particular the Institute of International Relations, is a real forge of personnel,” she noted.
The model is a synthesis of a role-playing game and an international conference, during which delegates reproduce the work of UN bodies and committees in accordance with the UN Charter and the rules of procedure and discuss current international agendas. The task of the participants is to prepare a final resolution in the process of discussions, dialogue and speeches, which is a compromise of the positions of different countries represented in the committees. The Model program includes lectures, trainings, training seminars and meetings during which issues on the international agenda will be discussed.
