Meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan on the topic of energy and resource efficiency

Today, at the site of the Kazan Expo IEC, a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan "On the implementation of the state program "Energy and Resource Efficiency in the Republic of Tatarstan" in 2021 and tasks for 2022" was held.

As part of the agenda, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan Albert Karimov delivered a keynote speech. Electricity consumption in Tatarstan in 2021 amounted to 32 billion kWh, an increase of 10% over the year, due to the growth of industrial irrigation. Electricity production increased by 13% to 27 billion kW/h, but the country still has a shortage of electricity.

As the minister noted, Tatarstan is planned to reach full self-sufficiency in terms of electricity in 2025.

Significant growth is expected in the field of distributed generation, now its capacity is 280 MW (3.5% of the installed capacity in the Republic of Tajikistan), by 2023 it will exceed 1 MW, which will be almost 13.9% of the installed capacity of the Republic of Tajikistan.

At the end of 2021, there was an increase in the energy intensity of the GRP of Tatarstan by 3.7%. The target to reduce energy intensity by 40% by 2020 (against the level of 2007) has not been achieved. At the same time, the decrease in energy intensity in the republic compared to the level of 2007 is 26.2%.

Rustam Minnikhanov stressed that in the current conditions of unprecedented restrictions, the primary issue is the import substitution of equipment and technologies, especially in the energy sector. According to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, it is important to analyze the necessary products to replace them with our own developments.

“Energy efficiency is a comprehensive program, in which all levels of government, enterprises and organizations, every citizen should take part. I am sure that our well-coordinated systematic work will allow us to solve the identified tasks,” the President of Tatarstan said in conclusion.
