Start of production of Aurus cars in Tatarstan
Serial production of Russian luxury cars Aurus Senat has started today at the sites of the Ford Sollers plant in Yelabuga. Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the launch ceremony via video communication.
In his address at the launch ceremony, the President of Russia noted that the development of the car was carried out in close cooperation with specialists and engineering centers in Europe and Asia, especially emphasizing that about 70% of component suppliers are Russian-made components.
“The opening of a production site in Tatarstan is another stimulus for the development of the region. Tatarstan is already among the leaders in many respects, but due to the emergence of modern jobs, an increase in tax revenues, which are necessary for solving social problems, Tatarstan will take another step forward, ”said Vladimir Putin.
The first cars are planned to be shipped in June. Most of Aurus is planned to be sold in the Middle East, and then in the markets of China and Western Europe.
The Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov also reminded that today the production of the "Senate" model is being launched on a full cycle - from welding of bodies to final tests.
“For each machine that comes off the assembly line, customers are offered a wide range of individual solutions,” said Manturov.
The head of the Investment Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan, Taliya Minullina, also noted the great importance of launching the production of luxury cars in the territory of Tatarstan.
“The start of Aurus production in Tatarstan is another step towards building a brand of a new automotive and machine-building center in Russia. The Republic of Tatarstan has everything for this: from the largest number of special economic zones for the location of production in any area, to high-class personnel, and traditionally the best investment climate among all regions of Russia, ”said the head of the Agency.
The pricing policy for luxury cars produced in Tatarstan starts at 18 million rubles. As mentioned earlier, the first batch will go into issue with the highest level of optionality and will reach 22 million rubles.
