Siemens will be involved in the development of SMART City Kazan

Today representatives of Siemens and Tatarstan Investment Development Agency signed an agreement of intent. The agreement will let the sides to specify the prospects for cooperation and mutual information and technical support on the implementation of SMART City Kazan project. It was signed in Moscow by Chief Executive of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency  Linar Yakupov and the CEO of Siemens in Russia and Central Asia Dietrich Muller.


The parties agreed to cooperate on the concept development of smart and energy-efficient infrastructure provision of a new satellite city - SMART City Kazan, including energy generation, distribution and consumption systems, smart networks construction, logistics systems, building automation and security, and other Siemens solutions. Siemens and Tatarstan Investment Development Agency intend to cooperate at every stage of SMART City Kazan project implementation. 


The Republic will cooperate with Siemens Company in order to learn the world’s experience on implementation of "smart cities”. It is very important for Tatarstan to apply "smart" solutions in infrastructure and provide energy-saving technology.


Kazan SMART City project was presented by Tatarstan Investment Development Agency within the International Investment Forum KAZANINVEST 2012. 


KAZAN SMART City will be situated not far from Kazan International Airport. 350 acres of land will be used for the construction of a new satellite city. It will become a state-of-art satellite city of Kazan with latest ICT facilities and infrastructure, eco-friendly technologies all of which create high quality social, working and living standards. SMART City is to transform Kazan into a new international business hub in order to competitively attract major multinational, Russian and Tatarstan companies. Kazan will have modern high quality infrastructure comprising exhibition and convention centre, administrative centre, high-technological zone, educational zone (primary and secondary schools, universities), private hospitals, commercial centre.

The agreement signed today gives us a great opportunity to contribute to the innovative modernization of Kazan’s infrastructure”.
