Qatar Investors Intrigued by Investment Opportunities in Tatarstan

An official delegation lead by Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Chief Executive Linar Yakupov visited Doha, Qatar on 27-28 April to present the investment and trade opportunities available in the Republic of Tatarstan.

During the two-day stay the delegation met with Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman of Al Faisal Holding and the Qatari Businessmen Association; Sheikh Khalifa Bin Jassim Al Thani, Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce; the Board of Directors of Energy City Qatar; and a number of other Qatari investors and businessmen with holdings in real estate, hospitality, and financial industry.

The delegation – including representatives of TIDA, Tatarstan Development Corporation (TDC), and Tatarstan Export Corporation (TEC) – presented in great detail to the Qatari businessmen the investment climate and opportunities available in Tatarstan and the potential for increasing exports from Tatarstan to Qatar. Particular interest was expressed during several of the meetings in Kazan Smart City, a groundbreaking urban development project that will transform Kazan into a full-fledged international business hub.

The Energy City Qatar Board of Directors and the Tatarstan delegation discussed possible avenues of collaboration during their meeting, among them exchanging experience and investing into Kazan Smart City.

Sheikh Faisal and Sheikh Khalifa both agreed that Tatarstan has much to offer investors, and stated their interest in participating in KAZANSUMMIT: Economic Cooperation of the Russian Federation and OIC Countries, which will be held on 2-3 October 2013.

During the course of the stay in Qatar the Tatarstan delegation also visited Aspire Academy, Katara Cultural Village, and The Pearl – Qatar, and Energy City Qatar.
