The first visiting session of the Verona Economic Forum in Kazan
The first visiting session of the Verona Eurasian Economic Forum "Innovative enterprises and technologies of Kazan and the Republic of Tatarstan" has opened today in the Kazan City Hall. This was carried out with the assistance of the Investment Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The main topic of the session of representatives of the Russian and Italian chambers of commerce and industry, republican ministries and departments and specialized business organizations was the prospect of economic and industrial cooperation.
Italian Ambassador to Russia Pasquale Terracciano addressed the forum participants in a video message with a call to work with the regions within the framework of Italian-Russian relations.
“Italy is a large processing economy and the second largest economy in Europe. Our cooperation with Tatarstan is an example of synergy and an example of how our relations can develop on this land rich in resources, ”the Ambassador noted.
Also, an important idea about building closer cooperation with the regions was expressed by Antonio Fallico, President of the Italian non-profit association “We Know Eurasia”.
“We are gradually emerging from the pandemic, which has been strongly affecting our daily and economic life for more than a year. Today, together we must look for ways out of this situation and work on development in the interests of all. Trade and economic cooperation is one of the key elements of recovery and overcoming the crisis caused by the pandemic, ”he said in his address to the forum participants.
Falliko also drew attention of those present to the indicators of trade turnover between Italy and Russia in recent years. So, in 2020, according to Russian customs, the Italian-Russian trade turnover reached $ 20.2 billion, which is 19.88% less than in 2019. Russian exports to Italy amounted to $ 10 billion, Italian exports to Russia - $ 10.2 billion. The data on exchanges between Italy and Tatarstan show the same trend, it was noted in the report by Antonio Fallico.
Further, the forum also discussed the ways and possibilities of restoring economic growth and the role of financial institutions in global changes in the economic agenda in the modern context.
In particular, the possibilities of investment sites, in particular the SEZ "Alabuga", cooperation in the field of mechanical engineering and medicine were presented.
The holding of this session of the visiting forum was a continuation of the agreements reached at the meeting of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan with the Chairman of the Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce Vincenzo Trani in April this year, when he arrived at the solemn ceremony of launching the Delimobil car rental service in Kazan.
The XIV Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona will be held on October 28-29, 2021 with the participation of heads of major companies from Italy, Russia and dozens of other countries. The offsite session of the Verona Eurasian Economic Forum in Kazan has become the fourth event of its kind since the beginning of the year in Russia. Previous meetings have already taken place in Moscow, Rostov-on-Don and Tomsk. All of them were focused on entrepreneurs.
