Medical Valley: «There are a lot of areas of cooperation within the framework of the medical cluster of Kazan Smart City»

Today in Tatarstan Investment Development Agency was a meeting with the «Medical Valley» German company.

The meeting was attended by Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Chief Executive Linar Yakupov, Tatarstan Development Corporation CEO Bulat Gayanov and First Deputy Health Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Adel Vafin.

Representatives of «Medical Valley» were presented to the investment potential of the Republic of Tatarstan, a new investment platform Kazan Smart City and a video presentation of the future project.

As Adel Vafin noted, much attention pays to the development of medical direction in the Republic of Tatarstan. He said that a new medical faculty at Kazan Federal University, which has the fundamental medicine, has been created. At the Faculty has established a center of genomic and personalized medicine, on the plan to open a university hospital with the most modern laboratories. Center, said Adel Vafin, is actively working with leading medical institutions of Russia and the world. First Deputy Health Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan also commented that in 2014 will be the 200th anniversary of Kazan Medical University, on the basis of which in the next two years will be implemented a project of creating a research center.

 "The position of the Ministry of Health of Tatarstan - is to support research activities," - shared Adel Vafin. - "Scientific School of Kazan has always competed with Moscow and St. Petersburg and we often competitive in a number of ways. We are close to those projects and trends in the field of medicine that developed in Tatarstan, and we are interested in their implementation. We hope that the Kazan Smart City project accumulates not only the potential of Tatarstan, but also the potential of Republican medicine".

The possibility of cooperation with Tatarstan in several areas and that Republic has a huge potential for collaboration also was noted.
"Medical Cluster of Kazan Smart City and investment platform itself  are interested to us in the fact that in the framework of this project, we can consider several areas of cooperation in the medical sector: industry, science, education, health services, research”, - said the representative of the «Medical Valley» Steffen Schmidt. Based on the experience of the company, Mr. Schmidt suggested the creation of a pilot project in the field of medicine in the medical cluster of Kazan Smart City.

"We are interested in cooperation with «Medical Valley» and are ready to work through issues in the areas in which we could cooperate with you", - said TIDA Chief Executive Linar Yakupov.

"We, in turn, are ready to define the areas in which we can work with you and determine the persons who will cooperate with you", - said Steffen Schmidt.

At the end of the meeting, participants discussed the detailed study of areas of cooperation in the framework of which further goals and joint collaboration will be determined.
