Cultural code and traditional values in raising children

16 May 2024, Thursday

2024 has been declared the Year of the Family by Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the session, the speakers discussed the role of traditional values in shaping future generations in a changing world, and identified the attitudes and fears that young people “follow” when making important decisions in life. The experts also highlighted the role of modern technologies and intercultural characteristics in raising children and youth using the example of state and international programs and projects in the field of culture, education and youth policy.

The Director General of the World Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ISESCO Salim bin Mohammed Al-Malik said that the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) is UNESCO, but only for the Islamic world. It includes 53 states. The main function of the organization is to work with education, culture, science, environmental issues, and tourism. “We are faced with the problem of artificial intelligence in the modern world, which forces our education to move in the other direction, but it is still important to preserve values, despite the changes in the education system. The goal of ISESCO is to protect education and progress dedicated to education, science and culture throughout the Islamic world, as well as in Russia. Russia is an observer of our organization.

The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan Irada Ayupova noted that positioning begins with the family. "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum 2024" clearly expresses the unity of the community, namely in the confessional sense, the value sense. According to her, 91% of the population of our country consider themselves patriots, for most Russians, love for the Motherland begins with self-identification associated with family, with the clan. "9/10 Russians are interested in the history of their family to one degree or another. The direction that is developing very strongly today is genealogical research. Knowledge of genealogy, where you came from, largely determines where you are going. This vector cannot be forgotten. We have our own specifics, a multinational country, more than 170 representatives of different nationalities live on the territory of the Republic alone. Families can be united by a spiritual and moral foundation,” she explained.

Rinat Sadykov, Minister of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, said that the Republic of Tatarstan has extensive experience in building a dialogue and working with different categories of youth, teenagers and children: “For us, one of the fundamental parts of preserving cultural heritage is preserving our native Tatar language. Much has been done in this direction, but there is still a lot of work to do, because on the one hand, modern technologies hinder the acquisition of the Tatar language, on the other hand, they help, but we need to be able to use these technologies correctly. The main thing for us is a direct dialogue with children, youth, in passing on our traditions and preserving the language.”

“Everything that should be in a modern person should begin in childhood. In fact, this is not so difficult, because a school is a big family, if we use the same rules and values that we use in the family when organizing the educational process, the education system, then there will be complete order and idyll. We are striving for this very much,” said Alsu Asadullina, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan.
