The III International Forum "SPROUTS" has ended in Tatarstan: Russia and China – mutually beneficial cooperation"

The III International Forum "SPROUTS" has finished its work in Kazan.: Russia and China have mutually beneficial cooperation." In two days, the forum has confirmed its status as one of the key platforms for the development of dialogue and practical interaction between Russia and China.

The forum hosted 77 business sessions in 17 areas and about 100 events of various levels.

More than 10,000 people have registered to participate in the discussions at the forum, including representatives of government, business, science and culture from 40 countries, 68 subjects of the Russian Federation and delegations from 28 administrative divisions of the People's Republic of China.

"In recent years, Russian-Chinese relations, which have a history of more than 400 years, have reached an unprecedented level of trust and mutual understanding. Tatarstan makes a significant contribution to the development of Russian-Chinese cooperation at its level," said Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan.

In 2025, 10 official delegations from 7 provinces of the People's Republic of China (Hubei, Shandong, Jilin, Chongqing, Hunan, Sichuan, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region) became guests of honor from China.

"Tatarstan is becoming more attractive to Chinese entrepreneurs. An important platform for establishing links between our companies is being created here. The republic has many advantages: very good investment conditions, and an active position of the region's leadership. Many of our enterprises intend to come here and set up joint plants for the production of equipment, engineering machinery, cement, and so on," said Zhang Hanhui, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Russian Federation.

An important part of the Forum was the international exhibition Russia China Expo with an exhibition area of 10,000 square meters, demonstrating the achievements and promising projects of bilateral cooperation. 22 Chinese and 71 Russian companies became the exhibitors of the exhibition.

"Trade turnover between Russia and China requires platforms such as the SPROUTS forum. Representatives of Russian regions, Chinese provinces and businesses meet there," said Taliya Minullina, Head of the Investment Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan.

About 200 large companies representing a wide range of industries, from energy and heavy industry to shipping, logistics and construction, are represented at the Chinese Business Forum.

One of the key results of the forum was the signing of 34 cooperation agreements in various fields: industry, energy, logistics, tourism, science and culture.

This year, the forum brought together significantly more Chinese companies than before. According to Zhou Lijun, chairman of the Union of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Russia, more than 50 companies participated from this organization alone, and at least 13 signed cooperation agreements.

The signing of a twinning agreement between Kazan and the Chinese city of Wuhan attracted particular attention. This document has become a new step in the development of twinning relations between the capital of Tatarstan and China.

In addition, a Chinese Investment Promotion Center was opened in Kazan, which will become a permanent platform for attracting Chinese businesses to Tatarstan.

The forum was accompanied by a rich cultural and sports program, which emphasized the value of humanitarian cooperation.

On August 17, the national Chinese dragon boat festival "Chinese Sabantuy" was held on Nizhny Kaban Lake, which opened with a ceremony of planting hydrangeas with the participation of a delegation from China and representatives of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan. On the same day, there were table tennis competitions among young athletes and the traditional amateur tournament "Evening League" of the Russian Table Tennis Federation. The XV anniversary charity golf tournament for the Raisa Cup of the Republic was held at the Ak Bars Golf Club.

On August 18, the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Center hosted the grand opening of the cross-cultural zone, which has become a symbol of friendship and mutual understanding between Russia and China. The most massive chess tournament in the history of the forum between the teams of twin cities and partner cities of Russia and China, which brought together 186 young players under the age of 20 from 31 cities in China and Russia. A record 1954 games were played in 90 minutes.

The Forum also included awarding the winners of the BRICS and SCO Young Leaders Award in five categories: Young Media Influencer of the Year, social initiative of the Year, research and innovation of the Year, Public Diplomacy Project of the Year and eco-initiative of the Year. The award unites prominent youth representatives from the BRICS and SCO countries who have contributed to the development of society at the international level.

The III International Forum "SPROUTS" became a significant event that demonstrated the relevance of the platform for strengthening business and humanitarian ties between Russia and China. The results of the forum confirm that Tatarstan is playing an increasingly prominent role in the development of bilateral partnership.

Next, the IV International Forum "SPROUTS: Russia and China – mutually beneficial cooperation", will be held in Kazan on August 17-18, 2026.
