28 August 2025, Thursday

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Mauritania to Russia, Mr. Sidati Cheikh Ould Ahmed Aisha, paid a business visit to the Investment Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan today. This is his first visit to Tatarstan. Marina Epifantseva, Deputy Head of the Agency, presented the economic and investment potential of the republic to him. Taliya Minullina, head of the AIR RT, conducted negotiations with the high-ranking guest.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Mauritania: "Thank you, Madam Minister, for a wonderful, brilliant, and complete presentation that complemented what your colleagues had previously said. I have visited many countries, many cities around the world, and it was a very pleasant surprise that Moscow, St. Petersburg and, of course, Kazan turned out to be, in my opinion, the most beautiful!"

During the meeting, the spheres of trade and investment cooperation between the republics were identified: industry and agriculture.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Mauritania: "I am concerned that Russian companies are absent in Mauritania! As I told the Russian foreign ministers earlier, I am satisfied with diplomatic relations with Russia, but there are concerns about trade and industrial cooperation. That's the goal I set for myself when I came here — to inform the Russian Federation that Mauritania is ready to work! I know there are a lot of possibilities here. And Tatarstan is a priority republic. Before coming, I studied the information and was pleasantly surprised by the republic: its people, its economy, its leader. My hope is to have economic cooperation with Tatarstan in my country. For what purpose? In order to sell wheat, oil, tires, in a word, industry not only in Mauritania, but also to the West African market. We have agreements with some West African countries that guarantee the free movement of goods and people (a free trade area). Yesterday I was in Innopolis. That's great! I would like the Russian Federation, in particular the Republic of Tatarstan, to work in Mauritania. For example, the food sector. Export of Tatarstan products to Mauritania, in particular wheat and milk powder. And the tires! But the main thing is food. My main goal, which is why I have come here, is, of course, to talk with you, Madam Minister, to talk with your colleagues so that we can discuss together what Mauritania and Tatarstan can do together. We are ready to start work now! I want the economic operators and the government of Tatarstan to understand that we are ready for you to sell your Tatarstan products on our territory and on the territory of West Africa."
