KazanSummit2017: as it was
On May 18-20, 9th International Economic Summit “Russia — Islamic World: KazanSummit 2017” took place in Kazan.
This year, the representatives of 53 countries are among participants of KazanSummit 2017. The total number of participants is more than 2 500 persons. 15 Ambassadors, including Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Russia Huseyin Dirioz and Saudi Ambassador Abdul Rahman Ibrahim Ar-Rassi, were among the honored guests. The Russian Federation was represented by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Mikhail Bogdanov; Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Konstantin Shuvalov; Chairman of "Vnesheconombank" Sergey Gorkov; Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank, Head of "Partner banking" workgroup Oleg Ganeev; Adviser to the Governor of the Bank of the Russian Federation Alexey Simanovskiy.
26 regions of Russia were represented at KazanSummit2017. Including: the Kabardino-Balkar Republic; Prime Minister of the Republic of Ingushetia - Ruslan Gagiev; Minister of Economic Development of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania - Kazbek Tomaev; Chairman of the Government of the Republic of North Ossetia - Alania - Teimuraz Touskaev.
The Summit was attended by the dignitaries from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation countries, including Minister of State, Chairman of the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology H.E. Dr. Rashid bin Ahmed bin Fahad; Minister of State of UAE, Director General of ESMA Abdullah Abdul Qader Al Maeeni; Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Economy Abdullah Al Saleh; representative of Bahrain Government, Member of the Royal family Hamad bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa; Chairman of Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee of Assembly of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhammedov; Director General of the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT) El Hassane Hzaine; Head of OIC Trade and Investment Department Naggi Dzhabbarov; President of OIC Youth Forum Elshad Iskandarov.
Representatives of foreign organizations participated in KazanSummit 2017: CEO of World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies Bostjan Skalar; Secretary General of General Council for Islamic Banks and FInance Institutions CIBAFI Abdelilah Belatik; Secretary-General of the Islamic International Panel for Economy and Finance, Chairman and Member of IFIs’ Shari’ah Supervisory Boards for Accounting and Auditing of AAOIFI Abdul Rahman Ben Saleh Al Atram; Chairman of the Board of Directors of Amwal and Amal Consultancy Samy Abdelhamid Al-Hilali; President of the Middle East & North Africa Region-MENA Sherif Medhat Kamel; Director General of the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT) El Hassane Hzaine; Secretary General of the Standards and Metrology Institute for the Islamic Countries (SMIIC) H.E. İhsan ÖVÜT; Chairman of the Executive Board of Gebze Organized Industrial Zone (GOSB) Vahit Yildirim.
This year there not only Russian, but also foreign banks were widely presented: Ziraat Bank (Turkey), ISBANK JSC (Turkey), Bank of Khartoum (Sudan), Denizbank (Turkey), YapiKredi (Turkey), The Bank of Punjab (Pakistan), Abu DhabiIslamic Bank (UAE).
The summit gathered many delegations, the most numerous of them are UAE, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Pakistan, Sudan and Saudi Arabia.
This year in the framework of Summit the first exhibition in halal industry «RUSSIA HALAL EXPO» as well as InvestEXPO, representing industrial and investment potential were held, in which about 50 world and Russian manufacturers took part.
One of the key events of the Summit was Business Breakfast of Sberbank. This year, the theme of business-breakfast “PARTNERSHIP FINANCE #NEWREALITY” was dedicated to discussing the prospects and drivers of development of partner funding in Russia.
In the framework of the plenary session a number of agreements was signed:
- Cooperation agreement between the Republic of Tatarstan, Gebze Organized Industrial Zone and joint stock company "Denizbank Moscow", joint stock company "ISBANK", joint stock commercial bank "Yapi Kredi Bank Moscow", "Ziraat Bank (Moskow)", joint stock company "Credit Europe Bank", public joint stock company "Sberbank Russia";
- Memorandum of understanding and cooperation between Bank of Punjab and Bank of Kazan;
- Cooperation agreement between JSC "Ak Bars Holding company" and ARJ HOLDING company;
- Contract for the construction of two high-speed passenger ships of the A145E project between JSC "Zelenodolsk plant named after A.M. Gorky» and ARJ HOLDING company (UAE);
- Memorandum of understanding between Korkmaz Group, "Rosla" LTD. and Executive Committee of Naberezhnye Chelny.
On the sidelines of the Summit the unique in scope and subject program took place. In the frames of the session the areas of social entrepreneurship, ecology, charity, cluster policy, tourism and Islamic education were raised.
A wide range of cultural activities were organized for the participants of International Summit:
- Muslim fashion festival "The beauty of Islamic world: HALAL FASHION";
- “Russia – Islamic world” cuisine festival;
- “IZGE ZHYENY BULGARIANS”;
- Visiting the 30th International classic ballet festival named after Rudolf Nureyev.
The great interest of the media in the main economic event of the spring is worth noting. General information partner was TASS Russian News Agency, international information partner - Russia Today, strategic information partner - RBC Tatarstan, regional information partner - Expert Tatarstan. Onsite studio of "REALNOE VREMYA" Internet newspaper was operating. Over 250 representatives of web and print publications were registered.
