Within the framework of the XI International Economic Summit "Russia – Islamic World: KazanSummit 2019" the annual international exhibition of the halal industry, Russia Halal Expo, took place. The Kazan Expo International Center hosted this event. The exhibition was organized by the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency, the Spiritual Body of Muslims of Tatarstan, the Committee on the Halal Standard of the Spiritual Body of Muslims of Tatarstan with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan.
“Tatarstan pays much attention to the development of the halal industry. The republic is implementing the Halal Lifestyle roadmap for the development of the halal lifestyle. The halal concept has come to mean not only the standard for the followers of Islam, but also a quality indicator for the products and services in secular societies. The event covered almost all sectors of economy. From year to year, the exhibition enables us to develop trade, economic, social and cultural relations of the republic with other regions of Russia and countries of the world,” said Taliya Minullina, the head of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency.
Russia Halal Expo is a presentation of the potential capacity of the halal sector of the Russian economy. This year, 84 exhibitors from Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan showed their products and services. Among the Russian regions there were Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, the Samara Region, the Sverdlovsk Region, the Chelyabinsk Region, the Republic of Mordovia, the Republic of Mari El, the Republic of Dagestan, the Republic of Chechnya, the Republic of Bashkortostan and, the last but not the least, the Republic of Tatarstan.
“We are the first-time exhibitor representing 6 companies in the field of food, tourism, fashion, and cosmetics. For us, Russia Halal Expo is not just an opportunity to show ourselves to Kazan and Tatarstan. This is a hub for cooperation with the market players of Russia and the OIC countries,” said Mr. Edi Suharto, the Plenipotentiary Minister Counsellor for Economic Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia to the Russian Federation.
The scale and popularity of the exhibition is growing with each passing year. In 2018, the exhibition occupied an area of 1.4 thousand square meters, this year it has increased by more than 3.5 times and reached 5 thousand square meters. So, Russia Halal Expo has become the largest exhibition in Russia ever in the history of the halal industry.
