Today, Chief Executive of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Linar Yakupov met with the Minister of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia His Excellency Dato 'Seri Mustapa Mohamed. Representatives of Presidential Department of External Relations of the Republic of Tatarstan, Aide to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan on Foreign Economic Activities, experts of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation, Deputy Chief Executive of Malaysia Investment Development Authority and head of the Economic and Trade Relations Department of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia participated at the event.
At the opening speech the Minister of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia emphasized that today Tatarstan is one of the most economically developed regions of the Russian Federation.
Within the meeting representatives of Malaysia shared their experience on cooperation with other entities and agencies. Also, prospects for cooperation of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency, Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia, Malaysia Investment Development Authority and Northern Corridor Investment Authority were discussed.
Both sides, Malaysian and Tatarstan, are interested in collaboration in such industries as automotive components production, construction materials, furniture, information technology, energy industry (particularly in construction of generating stations).
According to Linar Yakupov, these industries were of great interest during the Investment Forum ‘Business opportunities in the Republic of Tatarstan’. Chief Executive of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency paid particular attention to a new satellite city - KAZAN SMART city project. Some of the leading Malaysian companies are already involved in implementation and development of the project.
The Minister of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia His Excellency Dato 'Seri Mustapa Mohamed said that Malaysia is interested in opening of joint ventures in the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as in Malaysia. He noted that foreign trade is of great importance for economic development of both countries.
“Malaysian companies operating in the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan should share their experience with other Malaysian companies in order to encourage them to enter the market of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Russian Federation. Tatarstan’s export-oriented companies are welcomed in Malaysia’s market”.
Linar Yakupov thanked the Minister of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia for cooperation in organizing the visit of Tatarstan’s delegation to Malaysia, and for assistance in organizing the Investment Forum which was held on 19 July in Malaysia and gathered together more than 100 participants.
