Three possible sites for the center, all not far from Kazan International Airport, were suggested by TIDA, the Tatarstan Development Corporation, and the airport. One of the potential sites lies on the territory of what will be Smart-City Kazan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed, among other things, the specifications of each of the three sites, their logistical merits based on automobile access, and the development plans for the surrounding region in the near future.

According to Russia Postal Service representatives, the organization is planning on opening automated sorting centers across regional Russia. Currently there are two such operational centers, in Moscow and Saint Petersburg.
