Press Conference About Upcoming International Winter Forum To Be Held On 7 December

A press conference about the upcoming International Winter Forum will be held at 10 a.m., 7 December, at TatMedia (2 ulitsa Akademicheskaya) with the participation of  TIDA Chief Executive Linar Yakupov.

The International Winter Forum INVEST in TATARSTAN – an exclusive, invitation-only event organized by the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency (TIDA) under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan – will be held at the Kazan Ski Resort on 14 and 15 December 2012.

Some 150 Russian and international investors and businessmen from the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Holland, Turkey, Belgium, China, southeast Asia, the Middle East and other countries will gather for two days to explore investment opportunities within the Republic of Tatarstan. More than 100 investment projects in Tatarstan’s eight priority industries (chemical & petrochemical, machinery & automotive parts production, construction & building materials production, medicine & pharmaceuticals, IT & telecommunications, agriculture & food processing, Halal industry, and service industry & tourism) will be presented to investors for consideration, including SMART City Kazan, a one-of-a-kind project which will establish a modern satellite business city with state-of the-art facilities and infrastructure near Kazan International Airport.

Among the ranks of the international media covering the event will be CNBC, a leading global business channel with a worldwide audience of 380 million viewers. The entire forum will also be broadcast live on the website www.investintatarstan.com.

Day 1 of the forum will feature three sessions addressing general issues regarding investing in the republic, four industry-specific roundtables, and a panel discussion which will include the participation of Prime Minister of Tatarstan Ildar Khalikov.

Day 2 begins with a business breakfast hosted by the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, and continues with bilateral meetings between investors and Tatarstan companies, as well as bilateral meetings between foreign investors and President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. The day will conclude with the signing of agreements and MoUs.

One of the highlights of the International Winter Forum will be the launch of the Investor's Club - Friends of Tatarstan, a select collection of the republic’s most trusted investors, during the business breakfast on Day 2.

The International Winter Forum, with a location at the Kazan Ski Resort that is intentionally evocative of the Davos backdrop of the World Economic Forum, is the final event of  the 2012 INVEST in TATARSTAN drive, an international campaign launched  by  TIDA to promote the republic as one of Russia’s leading destinations for foreign investment.

From January to September 2012, Tatarstan has attracted $420 million of foreign investment, of which $334 million is Foreign Direct Investment. The republic currently boasts nearly 1300 companies with the participation of foreign capital, of which more than 600 are completely owned by foreign investors.

Press accreditation for the International Winter Forum is open until 5 p.m., 10 December 2012. Transport to the Kazan Ski Resort for accredited journalists will be provided on 14 December on a bus that will depart from in front of the TatMedia building at 2 ulitsa Dekabristov at 7:30 a.m. and leave from the Kazan Ski Resort to return to Kazan at 15.30.
