August 17, Tatarstan Investment Development Agency employees visited Svijazhsk island-city, located at the confluence of the Volga and Sviaga rivers in Tatarstan.

Sviyazhsk was founded in 1551 as a fortress, which was built within four weeks from parts made in Uglich and transported down the Volga. It became a military base of the Russian army during the siege of Kazan (1552).

In Sviyazhsk were based Dormition and John the Baptist Convents. The architectural ensemble of the current Sviyazhsk - is beautifully preserved temples, including the oldest wooden Trinity Church, St. Nicholas Church and the Cathedral of the Dormition. TIDA team was able to see the wooden church of the Holy Trinity. He is of the same age with island-city, which was also built in 1551.

Museum of the History Sviyazhsk presented archaeological findings of XVI-XX centuries and unique photographs with views of the city: "Mystery Land Sviyazhsk", "The ancient city Svijazhsk", "Svijazhsk: political repression and the victims of the Gulag" and "Enchanted Island."
Also since 2010, on July Svijazhsk hosts the annual nationwide Tatarstan Open tournament ​​in archery and crossbowSviyazhsk Cup”.  In the nearest future is planned opening of a new hotel, the observation deck, memorials, monument to victims of political repression and other objects.
