The results of the competition for the creation of Kazan Smart City eco-model

The award ceremony was held in Tatarstan Investment Development Agency. Competition for the creation of Kazan Smart City eco-models, organized by Tatarstan Investment Development Agency and Tatarstan Development Corporation (TDC), launched on June 15, 2013. The initiators of the competition set goals to draw public attention to the problem of environmental pollution and to involve young people to respect nature. In competition participated 7 teams, members are students and graduates of Kazan Architectural University.

Models also had a number of requirements. For example, it must be made from recycled and reclaimed materials in line with the concept of Kazan Smart City master plan and be creative. The work was rated by architects, representatives of prototyping workshops, Tatarstan Investment Development Agency, Tatarstan Development Corporation, the foreign partners of the Agency and the TDC.

2 teams won the competition. First, members which are Renata Zheltirova, Alexey Lazarev and Andrey Vanyukov, provided the original model with the use of computer chips, motherboards and accessories. Members of the second team - Daria Gerasimova, Ilya Badykshanov and Eugene Kulakov in eco-model used cardboard, newspapers and packages.

Tatarstan Development Corporation at the ceremony said that participants submitted to the jury interesting and creative work. Diplomas and prizes - modern smartphones - were presented by TIDA Chief Executive Linar Yakupov.

Eco models finalists will be exhibited in major shopping centers of Kazan. With this exposition organizers are planning to attract the attention of city residents and visitors to the building of a new investment platform of Tatarstan Kazan Smart City. The city will be built using modern urban technologies that will reduce emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. In Kazan Smart City will be used technologies such as rainwater harvesting system, using of solar energy, intelligent transportation system, with a priority of electric transport and bicycle paths.
