The second day of the World Economic Summit begins with a parliamentary session

Cooperation of parliament of the Russian Federation and the OIC countries, business and investment climate, strengthening of peace and stability, the promotion of dialogue among cultures and civilizations was the subject of a consultative meeting of the parliamentary session, held in the framework of KazanSummit 2013.

International economic summit of Russia and OIC countries held in Kazan on October 2-3 at the International Information Center. On October 2 at the summit held the investment, business and media forums, Conference on Islamic Economics and Finance, a forum on investment promotion, round tables and business meetings, discussions on the investment areas and "smart" cities of the Republic, in particular the Kazan Smart City project. Also on the first day of the summit was held a business breakfast of the President, groundbreaking ceremony of Kazan Smart City and a gala dinner hosted by Rustam Minnikhanov.
On the second day of the summit scheduled parliamentary session, the strategic forum and exhibitions.

Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Ilyas Umakhanov welcomed the participants and then the ex-President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu spoke about the role of the parliamentary sessions in the development of cooperation between the countries.

In the parliamentary session also performed the representatives of Pakistan, the Kingdom of Morocco and Bahrain. It was noted that the delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain for the first time take part in the parliamentary session of KazanSummit. Representatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain spoke about the development of Islamic banking in the world and the role of KazanSummit.

Ilyas Umahanov noted that an important role in the development of cooperation between Russia and OIC countries play diplomatic missions. On this parliamentary session toke part Konstantin Shuvalov, responsible for interaction with the OIC countries, Director of the Center for Civilizations Partnership of Institute of International Studies Veniamin Popov, the Political Adviser to the Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council and a former ambassador of Russia in Saudi Arabia Andrei Baklanov.

Among the speakers was also the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ali Jaffar, who noted that the Russian Federation is one of those countries that have a positive attitude to the Islamic world. The ambassador also spoke about the barriers which exist in the cooperation between Russia and OIC countries. At the conclusion of his speech, Jaffar Ali thanked the Republic for the summit, "which is an important tool in the interaction of Russia and OIC countries".

At the parliamentary session also performed the OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu. He underscored the role of the private sector, as well as Islamic investment in the economy. "As for the promotion of foreign direct investment, our goal is to increase their volume. Therefore it is necessary to strengthen not only economic, but also cultural relations, tourism and joint projects work", - said Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu.
At the end of the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Ilyas Umahanov thanked everyone for attending and noted that "KazanSummit is not the end, this is just the beginning of our work."
