Business breakfast with the participation of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres
Today a business breakfast was held in Kazan with the participation of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Members of the official UN delegation were also present. The event, which took place within the framework of the BRICS summit, was also attended by Chairman of the State Council Farid Mukhametshin, Head of the Investment Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan Taliya Minullina, President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan Rifkat Minnikhanov, Head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic Shamil Ageyev, representatives of business circles, clergy and the public.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, in turn, thanked Kazan for its hospitality. "My first visit to Russia, then the Soviet Union, took place in 1975, almost 50 years ago," said Mr. Guterres, "over the years I have visited many regions of your country, but nothing that I have seen in Russia can compare with Tatarstan."
Antonio Guterres noted that Tatarstan's success is based on the republic's "golden triangle". The first corner is history, culture and traditions. "Only those who honor their rich culture and traditions know how to move towards the future," the UN Secretary General emphasized.
The second corner of Tatarstan's "golden triangle" is unity in diversity, which leads to harmonious development. "There is fantastic unity in diversity here," the head of the international organization emphasized.
And the third important quality of the republic is innovation and the desire for development. "You have a wonderful past, but you look to the future," said Mr. Guterres, "and it is important that you invest not only in modern technologies, but, most importantly, in people."
The UN Secretary General wished everyone great success.
