"The anniversary is a reason to upgrade!"

15 April 2025, Tuesday

Today, Taliya Minullina, Head of the Investment Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as a member of the Russian Public Committee of UN-80, spoke at the first meeting of the committee. The event was hosted by Anatoly Torkunov, Chairman of the Russian Association for the Promotion of the United Nations, Rector of MGIMO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Talia Minullina: "In 2019, Tatarstan prepared a large report on the republic's compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals, and the report was presented twice at United Nations headquarters: in Geneva (2019) and New York (2020). Then the UN Secretary General, Mr. Antonio Guterres, said that he was interested in Tatarstan, and he would definitely pay a working visit to us. As we all know, Mr. Secretary General kept his word when he attended the BRICS+ Summit of Heads of State last year.

To date, we have built serious work in the republic, and this year, the eightieth anniversary of the United Nations is an occasion to renew! Therefore, in Tatarstan, we have initiated the preparation of a new report on the Sustainable Development Goals and their implementation, and we plan to publish it this summer."

Taliya Minullina also said that in May, within the framework of the International Economic Forum "Russia — the Islamic World: KazanForum", a session "On the way to a multipolar world and sustainable development" dedicated to the goals of sustainable development will be held.

At the end of her speech, the head of the Agency assured the participants of the event that the Republic of Tatarstan will always do everything possible to ensure that joint work with the Association leads to the most important result — improving the quality of life of the population! "We will work according to the planned plan!" she summed up.

Following the meeting, an action plan was adopted in honor of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations.
