Talia Minullina: "Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in his interview to the 20th anniversary of the status of Russia's observer country in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation noted: "Our republic has always been at the forefront of efforts to develop and strengthen Russia's relations with the Islamic world, and Russia's membership in the OIC has opened up new opportunities for Tatarstan to expand foreign economic relations, increase trade turnover with Muslim countries and implement joint investment projects." This status allows us to directly interact with the leaders of Muslim countries to promote the Republic of Tatarstan. If you had only seen that Rustam Nurgalievich was treated with such honor and respect at meetings and with what desire they discuss possible cooperation. Despite all the geopolitical difficulties, we have projects with investments from the OIC countries".

Examples of investment cooperation include the production of AURUS cars with the participation of the Arab Tawazun fund, cooperation with the Emirati investment company Emaar Properties, interaction with the Malaysian company Maharani in the oil and gas and petrochemical sector.

Turkish companies have invested about $2 billion in our republic. There are more than ten Turkish plants in Tatarstan. Tatarstan companies are working on the implementation of large projects in Turkey in the field of energy and petrochemicals.

For reference:

In June 2005, Russia received the official status of an observer country in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The strategic vision group "Russia-Islamic World" was established in 2006 with the active participation of Tatarstan. Its first co-chairmen were the outstanding statesman Yevgeny Maximovich Primakov and the first President of Tatarstan Mintimer Sharipovich Shaimiev. Since 2014, the Group has been headed by Rustam Minnikhanov by Rais Tatarstan on behalf of the President of Russia.
