Technological leadership: implementation of innovative solutions in modern production

17 February 2026, Tuesday

In 2025, the industrial production index in Tatarstan was almost 110%. Products worth more than 6 trillion rubles were shipped. Rustam Minnikhanov:

"We dreamed of 5 trillion, today it went for 6, but our dream should be 10 ... We are a major taxpayer for the Russian state, and we must have ambitions, we must not stand still."

The share of manufacturing industries has reached 80%. Oleg Korobchenko noted the growth in the production of chemicals and medicines, as well as electrical equipment. The SEZ "Alabuga" has the best indicators. Tatarstan's Minister of Industry and Trade also said that investments in development should be stimulated.:

"It is necessary to exempt enterprises from taxes on research and development. The more industrialists invest in scientific research, the more technologically advanced and profitable production will be."

The volume of internal research and development costs has almost doubled. The scientific and technical center of KAMAZ, the Tatneft cluster, additive technologies of KNRTU-KAI and others are mentioned as examples.

What is being done in the republic for technological leadership in industry?
In 2026, it is planned to modernize the TANECO primary oil refining unit and organize the production of automotive propane-butane. The main projects for the petrochemical industry are Paraxylene-TFC-PET, as well as ultrahigh molecular polyethylene. Their implementation will give the market 1 million tons of terephthalic acid and 450 thousand tons of polyester products.

This will fully cover the needs of the country's textile, automotive, construction and food industries.

SIBUR's investments in the EP-600 project are aimed at increasing the production of the polystyrene chain, creating a catalyst factory, as well as new grades of polyethylene. SIBUR maintains a high rate of investment in the republic: by 2028, the total volume of investments in assets in Tatarstan will amount to about 600+ billion rubles, of which 350 billion rubles have already been invested. In 2025, investments reached 148 billion rubles (+56% by 2024). In 2025, Nizhnekamskneftekhim and Kazanorgsintez collectively produced 4.1 million tons of petrochemical products by the end of 2025, which is +14% by 2024. The key growth factor is the phased introduction of the ethylene complex in Nizhnekamsk to the design parameters, as well as the expansion of polyethylene capacities in Kazan, increasing the workload and stability of existing production facilities. Kazanorgsintez accounts for about 20% of the EP-600's capacity, and the Nizhnekamsk–Kazan ethylene pipeline, 250 km long, is currently under construction. This year's objectives are to begin construction of a plant for the entire PET and Ammonium 2 chain. To complete the construction of the SIBUR R&D center; to create an industrial park based on KZSK and KZSK-Silicone.

The main objectives for mechanical engineering in 2026 are to achieve a density of robotics of 70 units per 10,000 employees.; complete the construction of the NPC BAS and attract residents; to increase the production of cars, airplanes, helicopters and other equipment.
