BISHKEK, July 30, 2026. — Today, Maria Krivenkova, Deputy Head of the Investment Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan (IDA RT), delivered a presentation on the region’s economic and investment potential at the conference on regional economic and trade cooperation between China and the SCO, which is being held in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan). In her report, she provided a detailed overview of the republic’s key macroeconomic indicators, as well as current initiatives in the field of international economic cooperation.
Speaking to the participants, Maria Krivenkova noted the resilience of Tatarstan’s economy. According to the results of 2025, the republic’s gross regional product (GRP) reached 5,730 billion rubles (68.9 billion US dollars), with a growth index of 102.9%. The industrial production index amounted to 109.9%, and the share of industry in the economy’s structure exceeded 41%. She also drew attention to the record‑high share of companies’ own funds in the total investment volume, which amounted to 81.1%, which, according to her, confirms the region’s business sector’s high internal resilience. Tatarstan took first place in the National Ranking of the Investment Climate in Russia.
A separate section of the speech was devoted to the 15th anniversary of the Investment Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan, which was celebrated in June of this year. During its work, the AIR RT held 120 Investment Councils, and the total volume of investments in public-private partnership (PPP) projects exceeded 406 billion rubles (more than 5.20 billion dollars). Tatarstan consistently attracts more than 1 trillion rubles (12.82 billion US dollars) of private investment annually. The Deputy Head emphasized the introduction of the Municipal Investment Standard and MES mechanisms as tools for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) The UN in municipal areas. She also elaborated in detail on the operation of the “single window” principle, where the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency acts as a single point of responsibility for the investor — from the examination of the declaration to the monitoring of projects after launch, using the “KIT” information system to eliminate bureaucratic delays.
In terms of international cooperation, special emphasis was placed on strategic partnership with the People’s Republic of China. Maria Krivenkova recalled that the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Kazan as part of the BRICS Summit in 2024 gave a powerful impetus to the development of interregional ties. She noted the work of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kazan (opened in 2018) and the Trade Mission of the Republic of Tatarstan in Beijing, as well as the launch of regular direct flights and the operation of the Deng Xiaoping Logistics Complex.
The speaker cited impressive trade turnover dynamics: over the past ten years, mutual trade between Tatarstan and the PRC has grown almost 13‑fold — from $264.2 million in 2015 to a record $3,553.4 million by the end of 2025. The PRC firmly holds the position of the republic’s key strategic partner. Speaking about congress and exhibition activities, Ms. Krivenkova noted the successes of the KazanForum 2016 (which brought together 99 countries and saw 163 agreements signed) and the “ROSTKI” forum, which became the main bridge between the regional businesses of the two countries. In 2015, 24 major agreements were concluded at the “ROSTKI” forum, and the business programme included 77 sessions across 17 tracks. High‑ranking officials took part in the forum, including Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak and Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Russian Federation Zhang Hanhui.
In conclusion, Maria Krivenkova invited the leadership, delegations of the SCO countries and business circles to take part in the IV International Forum “GROWTH: Russia and China – mutually beneficial cooperation,” which will be held from August 16 to 19, 2026, in Kazan at the Kazan Expo venue. The forum’s programme, which includes the cultural festival “Chinese Sabantuy”, the Russia China Expo exhibition (covering an area of 14,000 square metres) and a plenary session with the participation of leaders from Russian regions and Chinese provinces, is intended to become a key event for the development of practical cooperation. It also invited delegates to visit the republic’s industrial facilities, including PJSC KAMAZ and the Innopolis special economic zone.
