Matthew Blong: «We believe in the future of the Republic of Tatarstan»

«Ecolab» Business Development Director Matthew Blong in the plenary session of the II International Winter Forum «Invest in Tatarstan» told about the investment attractiveness of the region.

Winter Forum, which opened on March 5 at the «Kazan» ski resort, began with a «Tatarstan - is different» plenary session. The session was moderated by «Business New Europe» Chief Editor Ben Aris. The presidium included Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Chief Executive Linar Yakupov, ANCOR Board of Directors Chairman Pavel Ignatyev, «Ecolab» Business Development in Russia and CIS countries Director Matthew Blong, «Bank of Tatarstan» of Sberbank of Russia Deputy CEO Maryam Davletshina.

Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Chief Executive Linar Yakupov, opening the forum, noted that today Tatarstan is one of the best in doing business among Russian regions. In his speech Linar Yakupov underscored the interest of investors in Tatarstan, in particular, an open dialogue between government and business, Tatarstan Investment Development Agency’s activities - an executive body responsible for attracting investment in the region, the availability of special economic zones and platforms operating in the territory of the republic, tax exemptions and preferences.

Tatarstan is becoming more attractive for representatives from other regions of the country. For them the Republic is not only a good place to work, but also for live and recreation. Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Chief Executive said that the second day of the forum will begin with a meeting of the Tatarstan’s Investors Club, which will be held with the participation of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. Linar Yakupov underscored that the Tatarstan’s Investors Club will facilitate the interaction of business and government, the establishment of feedback from investors, companies’ participating in forming the investment climate of Tatarstan, integration and partnership between the companies, as well as the creation of favorable conditions for doing business.

ANCOR Board of Directors Chairman Pavel Ignatyev in his speech underscored the aspects of personnel policy of the Republic of Tatarstan and Russia as a whole, as well as demonstrated the migration of people from far areas to the central part of Russia, particularly to Moscow, St. Petersburg and Krasnodar.

Pavel Ignatyev said that in attracting human resources republic has a number of strong sides. The Speaker noted that Kazan Smart City and Innopolis is become magnets to attract talented staff from across the country. Work with the staff also developed in «Strategy 2030». Tatarstan, according to Pavel Ignatyev, is one of the brightest places where human resources are generated. There also will be created some training resource centers.

«Ecolab» Business Development in Russia and CIS countries Director Matthew Blong in plenary session presented activities of the company, noting the «Ecolab» extensive experience in the use of water, energy and sanitation technologies and services that protect people and preserve vital important resources.

«I am very happy to work in Tatarstan, - he said, addressing the audience. - The Republic is very important for «Ecolab»! Russia today is developing rapidly and Tatarstan in this field looks more attractive than traditional capitals - Moscow and St. Petersburg».

Talking about the advantages of the region, Mr. Blong noted comfortable conditions of doing business, high speed of several key business processes.

«It is very easy to work with partners, the republic's economy is diversified into the oil and gas industry and many processes go faster here, - he shared. - In Tatarstan we can hold a very effective dialogue with public authorities. President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov - is a very hospitable person! Tatarstan – is a very dynamic and interesting area where we can work. We believe in the region and believe in the future of this republic».

The plenary session ended by the presentation of the «Bank of Tatarstan» Sberbank of Russia, which introduced «Bank of Tatarstan» Sberbank of Russia Deputy CEO Maryam Davletshina. It was noted that Sberbank is the fastest growing bank in Russia, engaged in international activities and involving resources of foreign banks.

Linar Yakupov, commenting on the Maryam’s presentation, said that today Sberbank is the only Russian bank to open «International Desk» - the bank’s division, whose main task is a complex service of international companies and which acts as an additional mechanism to attract investors.
