Southern Aegean islands’ delegation visits Tatarstan

During the three-day trip to the region, delegation headed by Governor of Cycladic Mr. Georgios Pusseos met with President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, toured historic sites of Kazan, visited Svijazhsk and acquainted with the Tatarstan experience in investment development sphere, ensuring interaction between government and business, promoting the export potential of the territory.

The delegation of the Southern Aegean islands, in particular, included Ermoúpoli Mayor (Syros Island) Ioannis Dekavalas, Professor, Head of the product design and system engineering cathedra in Ege University John Darzentas, President of the Association of the hotel business (Syros Island) Iakovos Arvantis, President and owner of «Siros Travel» Antonios Maragkos, representative of the Sports Association Syros Nikolouzos Konstantinos, Aegean television Director Charalampos Koulouras.

At the meeting with the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov discussed the possibility of Russian- Greek relations and prospects for cooperation in the field of tourism, education and economic interaction.

Investment potential of the republic was presented during a meeting in Tatarstan Investment Development Agency, where participated the Agency First Deputy Chief Executive Robert Galiullin, Head of Investment projects examination department Rustam Mingazov, Deputy Head of Exports Department in Tatarstan Export Corporation Kevin Forbes.

Talking about the opportunities of the region, Robert Galiullin presented the Tatarstan’s investment infrastructure, implemented in the republic, such as Kazan Smart City, Innopolis and SEZ «Alabuga». Gergios Pusseos interested about the implementation of projects, using public-private partnership in the region, noting that in Greece, in particular, such projects are developed in the education field. He also underscored that in Tatarstan transport logistics is very well developed.

Kevin Forbes told the guests about the activities of Tatarstan Export Corporation, noting support for region’s exporting companies in the promoting products to the CIS and foreign countries’ markets, the development of non-commodity exports, exhibition activities.

During the visit to the Republic of Tatarstan was signed an agreement on cooperation between the Southern Aegean islands and Tatarstan Tourism Agency.
