Rustam Minnikhanov: «Our task – is to create a bridge between Southeast Asia and the Republic of Tatarstan»

Head of the region within his working visit to the People's Republic of China (PRC) today held a series of meetings in a special administrative region of China – Hong Kong.

At a meeting with the Meridian Capital Board of Directors Chairman Marc Holtzman Mr. Minnikhanov discussed cooperation in areas such as agriculture and processing, biotechnology, public-private partnership in the field of medicine, as well as development cooperation. Earlier discussions between the Tatarstan President and the Meridian Capital Board of Directors Chairman held in January 2013 (at an economic forum in Davos) and in April 2013 (Kazan).

In the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park, established in 2001 by the Government of the Special Administrative Region of China, delegation of Republic of Tatarstan presented the possibility of the park and its future prospects.

During the presentation of the investment and scientific and technical potential of the Republic of Tatarstan for the business community of Hong Kong, Tatarstan President appealed to the Chinese side with the proposal to visit Tatarstan on a familiarization visit. He also noted that Tatarstan within their investment programs yet not much works with Southeast Asia. As said the head of the region, the main purpose of the trip to China is the opportunity to present the investment potential of the Republic of Tatarstan, to talk about the region's economy and the advantages of doing business for investors.
