Head of Tatarstan meets with President of Turkey Abdullah Gul

The meeting was held in Ashgabat during the official visit of the Tatarstan’s delegation headed by Rustam Minnikhanov to Turkmenistan.

It was attended by Minister of Agriculture and animal husbandry of the Republic of Turkey Mehmet Mehdi Eker, Chief Secretary for Administration of the President of Turkey Mustafa Isen, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Naci Koru, Member of Parliament of the Turkey Mustafa Kapudzhu. From the Republic of Tatarstan the meeting attended by Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Industry and Trade Ravil Zaripov, Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Chief Executive Linar Yakupov, Minister of Transport and Road Lenar Safin.

Mr. Minnikhanov noted that Turkey is the first by joint ventures with foreign participation in the Republic of Tatarstan. For example in the special economic zone «Alabuga» Turkish investment volume is about 1.5 billion dollars. Tatarstan President underscored that the Turkish companies, whose production has been placed on the territory of «Alabuga» recently took an active part in the meeting of the Consultative Council on Foreign Investment, chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov.

Tatarstan President said that on April 30, the region’s delegation will visit Antalya, another visit to Turkey planned at the end of May. Noting that Tatarstan intends to continue active cooperation with Turkey, Mr. Minnikhanov expressed hope that Turkish companies will actively participate in the implementation in the region such ambitious projects as Innopolis and Kazan Smart City.
