Ilyas Umahanov: «Investment resources of the Islamic world can be directed to projects of the Russian regions»

In comments to the upcoming KazanSummit 2014 Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council said that the annual International Economic Summit of Russia and countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has become a platform for the development of various formats of cooperation between Russian regions with countries and international organizations of the Islamic world.

With the support of the Federation Council KazanSummit held since 2012. Within KazanSummit the third consecutive year holds consultative meeting of parliamentarians of Russia and OIC countries. Among the relevant topics for discussion at the VI International Economic  of Russia and OIC countries, as Ilyas Umahanov noted, are Islamic economics and finance, technology and innovation.

«Last year KazanSummit actively discussed the experience of using the latest achievements of urban development, the creation of «smart» cities, - told Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council. - Kazan with its latest achievements more and more can be called an innovation capital of Russia. In Tatarstan also two major new investment areas: IT-city Innopolis and Kazan Smart City are in progress.

Among the areas of cooperation Ilyas Umahanov identified economy, culture and education. «All these areas has a significant potential. KazanSummit helps to unlock this potential and implement it into concrete projects».
