The delegation of the Republic of Tatarstan visited the Cyberjaya City within the working visit, organized to learn the experience of the state monitoring system of business projects of Malaysia - BLESS (Business Licensing Electronic Support System).
Cyberjaya High-tech Area is the core of the multimedia super corridor. Cyberjaya project started in 1997 and is known as the Silicon Valley of Malaysia. The total area of Cyberjaya City, located in the Sepang region and about 50 km south of Kuala Lumpur, is 2,800 hectares. But only 27% of this space is used. Since the beginning of the project the state has spent about 1.6 billion dollars on Cyberjaya’s infrastructure development.
As a result of a successful system policy on the development of Cyberjaya in the city locate about 621 companies (mostly IT-companies), 35 of which are transnational; exist the necessary infrastructure for studying, working and living. The population of the city of Cyberjaya (translated as «kibergorod») now is 40 thousand people.
On the territory of Cyberjaya City opened Multimedia University with an enrollment of 20 thousand people, there are 13 research centers, which researches is focused on nanotechnology, virtual reality and robotics.
About Super Corridor
In 1996 Malaysia launched a state program «Multimedia Super Corridor», which is aimed to turn Malaysia into a dynamic player in the IT arena. The program involves active involvement of foreign companies and their capital in Malaysia and thus had to give impetus to the development of the local IT, which at that time was in its infancy.
