3M International Corporation opens new production facility in Tatarstan.

The project is supported by Tatarstan Investment Development Agency; the plant will operate in the SEZ "Alabuga".

Acting President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited the 3M industrial complex on June 23 and met with "3M Russia" CEO Robert Nichols, the meeting was attended by TIDA Chief Executive Taliya Minullina and SEZ "Alabuga" CEO Timur Shagivaleev.

The leader of the republic and the Top-manager of the company discussed the start of production. The first line of the plant is ready for operation and will produce anti-corrosion coatings for the oil and gas industry. Expected production capacity – is 2.5 million liters per year. 3M anti-corrosion coatings are already used in the construction of "Power of Siberia", "Turkish Stream", "Central Asia-China" pipelines.

"3M Russia" CEO Robert Nichols said:

"The main factors influencing the choice of the site for the project was the support provided by the government of Tatarstan, in particular Tatarstan Investment Development Agency, the leadership of the SEZ" Alabuga", as well as customs and tax benefits, infrastructure".

Also, Mr. Nichols emphasized that Russia is a priority and a perspective market for the company, 3M plans to develop business in Russia, focusing on the phased localization with a focus on the development of production in the Republic of Tatarstan.

The groundbreaking ceremony of "3M Volga" plant was held on November 13, 2013.

Hugh Nichols arrived in Tatarstan on the eve, on June 22.
