On July 7 in the capital of Tatarstan in the "Korston" held urban conference "Cities and Territories tomorrow: tools for Positive Change".
The conference was attended by Acting President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, representatives of federal (Russian Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Economic Development) and national government agencies, businessmen, experts and members of the public. Tatarstan Investment Development Agency was represented by TIDA Chief Executive First Deputy Insaf Galiev.
Rustam Minnikhanov during the discussion of topical issues of urban space emphasized the need for improvement on the basis of the best world standards:
"If the water has its beautiful places, they now have been privatized or access to them is limited. We need to pass a difficult way to put in order these areas, making them available to citizens. In addition, it is necessary to make them interesting, these areas also should generate the income for supporting them. We walked along the promenade of Lake Kaban, realize that need to put things in order here. How it can be done? This is path, bench and maybe some kind of boat. But the world has gone far ahead. In different countries we see lot embankments, including our Moscow colleagues. They can teach us a lot. Even basic things that we started doing on the Kazanka waterfront - and today it has become the most popular place in the city. We understand that people need to be in a place where they feel comfortable. So we started with the "Parks and squares" program, but the water spaces, water protection zones are of great value".
Within the conference held such events as the "Water in a modern city" plenary session; "Public Infrastructure: a development in conditions of budget deficit" roundtable; "Innopolis is the first city in the 21st-century Russia" roundtable and - "Public participation in urban management" plenary session.
As noted on the conference page on the Internet, the importance of ponds for Tatarstan is difficult to overestimate. The hydrographic network defines features of the spatial structure of the region and is the basis of its economic activity. It forms the main zone of implementation of republican management’s long-term efforts. The Strategy of socio-economic development of Tatarstan until 2030 defines this area as the "Volga-Kama growth pole - the territory of the leadership". In the future, there will be formed "Volga-Kama Metropolis" - megacity region covering the three largest metropolitan area of the Republic: the Kazan, Almetyevsk and Kama. In addition, as a flagship project in the region's development strategy distinguishes the eco-zone "Volga-Kama Stream", bringing together coastal cities and municipal regions of Tatarstan. In recent decades Kazan - is also one of the fastest growing cities in Russia, the application on leadership is supported by and Kazan registered in Rospatent as the "Third Capital of Russia" brand, Kazan rapid changes are largely the result of the original model of the development of the city based on the megaprojects associated mainly with major events note the organizers of the conference.
