3M localizes innovative production in Russia: Tatarstan

On October 21, 2015 at 12:00 in the Special Economic Zone "Alabuga" will be held the opening ceremony of the 3M plant and launch its first production line for the production of liquid anti-corrosion coatings for the oil and gas industry.
The expected capacity of the production line is 2.5 million liters per year, it will allow company in the near future to fully provide the Russian market with the products of local production. With the localization of Scotchkote coatings production in Russia, 3M's leadership take into consideration the Russian Government plans to improve the investment climate in Russia and the transfer of modern technologies to carry out modernization and technological re-equipment of industries.
Scotchkote epoxy resin coating is in the demand on the Russian market and is used in industrial processes in the production of pipes, and in the repair and restoration of oil and gas pipelines in the field. These coatings are used in the construction of pipelines "Power of Siberia", "Turkish Stream", "Central Asia-China". The production line is certified in compliance with all industry requirements, the plant completed commissioning works, produced the first testing products.
The opening ceremony will participate Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Chief Executive Taliya Minullina and other representatives of national governments, federal executive authorities, PJSC "Gazprom" and the major Russian industrial companies and pipe plants.

This is done to implement support for investors - Tatarstan manufacturers, including in terms of product sales".
"3M Russia" CEO Robert Nichols during a visit to Tatarstan in June 2015, told about the localization of production in Tatarstan: "The main factors that determined the choice of the site for the project was the support provided by the government of Tatarstan, in particular Tatarstan Investment Development Agency, leadership of SEZ "Alabuga", as well as customs and tax benefits, infrastructure". Also, Mr. Nichols emphasized that Russia is a priority and a promising market for the company, 3M plans to develop business in Russia, focusing on the phase localization of production in the Republic of Tatarstan.
The production area of ​​the 3M plant in the SEZ "Alabuga" is two times more than in Volokolamsk. In the future the production base is planned to expand.
