Discussion in the Government of Tatarstan on the measures to improve road safety

On December 14 at the House of the Government of Tatarstan held a joint meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan and the board of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Tatarstan on the issue of road safety. The meeting was chaired by President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. The meeting was attended by Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Chief Executive Taliya Minullina.

Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan Artem Hohorin reported on the results of work on road safety for 11 months of 2015, noting the consolidation of the positive dynamics of the overall accident rate. He drew attention to the fact that every third accident caused by shortcomings in the maintenance of the road network. The minister also noted the problem of tracking the location of school buses and their compliance with speed limits.

Prime Minister of Tatarstan - Chairman of the Republican government commission on road safety Ildar Khalikov, summing up the meeting, noted that demonstrated positive results have been achieved, including because of a popularization of the "People's Inspector".

Closing speech were made by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. He said that such a situation, when in the traffic accidents children die or when car is driven by a drunk, is absolutely unacceptable. Mr. Minnikhanov emphasized the need to strengthen efforts to prevent traffic violations.

"Investment climate of Tatarstan is largely made up of state of the region's infrastructure. Improvement of the road network, road safety issues – are important aspects of the attractiveness of our republic for investors. On board was noted, that the majority of accidents in Tatarstan occur because of speeding and driving while intoxicated. So we can reduce accidents to a minimum, just every driver need to follow the traffic rules," said TIDA Chief Executive Taliya Minullina.
