From interaction of municipalities to strengthening the economy of states
Development of cooperation with the leading partner of the Republic of Tatarstan – the Republic of Turkey – was discussed in Kazan by the authorities and the Turkish investors with the delegation of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB).
“One of the Union’s aims is to develop relations with the Republic of Tatarstan, including the growth of trade turnover between the countries and regions. This is my first visit to Tatarstan, and I like both the Republic and Kazan very much; it makes me feel like visiting your region more often. We are all for supporting and expanding brotherhood relations between the Unions and our states”, marked Ugur Ibrahim Altay, the President of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities and the mayor of Konya city, when speaking at the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency.
Municipalities in Tatarstan have twin-city relations with 17 Turkish cities. TDBB assists in establishing relations between municipalities at all levels. Union of Municipalities of the Republic of Tatarstan is a member of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities. Since 2014, the Tatarstan representative in the TDBB Board of Directors is the Head of Nizhnekamsk municipal region – the mayor of Nizhnekamsk city Aydar Metshin.
“It is a great honor for us to greet such a prominent delegation today. We hope this visit will result in new arrangements, and we will plan our further cooperative work. Today, the Republic of Turkey is our number one investor, with over 2 bln rubles invested in the Tatarstan economy in the recent 10 years. Spiritual congruence – the common history, culture, and traditions – makes the basis for long-term relations, including economic ones”, emphasized Taliya Minullina, the Head of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency.
