Ambassador of Indonesia to Russia Mr. Mohamad Wahid Supriadi: “We must comprehensively activate international cooperation”

The Tatarstan Investment Development Agency has launched a series of online-interviews with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors of OIC countries to Russia and business representatives on the topic: “The impact of Covid-19 on the economy of OIC countries (G-to-B)”.

Since Russia and Indonesia celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year, the first interview took place with the Ambassador of Indonesia to Russia, Mr. Mohamad Wahid Supriyadi. The head of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Ms.Taliya Minullina thanked the Ambassador and emphasized the importance of developing business relations between countries and Russian regions.

Russia is actively cooperating with Indonesia in various fields, there are agreements in the field of IT-technologies. Tatarstan and Indonesia have strong friendly and business relations. Many students from Indonesia are getting higher education in Tatarstan. Last year on the sidelines of the Russia-Islamic World: KazanSummit International Economic Summit, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Indonesian Halal Lifestyle Center and our Agency. We agreed to develop and promote halal lifestyle as well as other areas of cooperation of mutual interest. There are many prospects for strengthening cooperation”, – said Ms.Taliya Minullina.

Today we need to act together. We must comprehensively activate international cooperation so that humanity can win the fight against such a serious infectious disease. In turn, we still hope that by the end of the year it will be possible to implement some projects in the Republic of Tatarstan”, – said the Ambassador of Indonesia.

The head of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency has told in detail about the investment attractiveness of Tatarstan, emphasizing that today there are 100 industrial parks in the republic, each economic sector of the region is supported by a high-quality educational base, and the Agency is a kind of industrial bridge between Tatarstan and foreign countries with regard to investments, education and business. In the framework of the interview the parties discussed the economic development of countries against the backdrop of Covid-19 measures taken to support business in the current environment, newest specialties and much more. Despite the difficult time, countries share their experience in a strategic approach to combat the economic consequences of Covid-19. Indonesia spent about 2,5% of its GDP on implementing measures of the economic consequences of the pandemic, in Russia it ended in 2,8% of GDP.
