Today in IT-Park a Tatarstan-Singapore Business Forum was held with participation of a Singapore delegation led by Minister of Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

The forum featured the participation of Prime Minister of Tatarstan Ildar Khalikov, Tatarstan Investment Development Agency (TIDA) Chief Executive Linar Yakupov, First Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Ravil Muratov, and Minister of Informatization and Communication Roman Shaykhutdinov.

The Singapore delegation included government representatives as well as companies in construction, architecture, real estate, consultancy, and IT, among them China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park Development Group, Singapore Exchange Limited, Ascendas Private Limited, JURONG International, Surbana International Consultants PTE LTD, Singapore Technologies Electronics, and RSP Architects Planners & Engineers.

Opening the forum, Ildar Khalikov noted the bilateral collaboration that has been enjoyed between the two republics, adding that Tatarstan has drawn much from the experience of the development of Singapore.

In response, Tharman Shanmugaratnam praised Tatarstan for the fact that it sets itself apart from other regions in Russia.

“Among the strengths of your republic is the strong leadership and human resources, the strong focus on education,” he said. “Tatarstan’s capital of Kazan is among the leading cities in Russia for doing business. Russia and Tatarstan are extremely interesting for Singapore, and our companies have already expressed a desire in the republic. Our bilateral cooperation is deeply developed and on a very high level, and we are certain that it will continue to prosper.”

Tarman Shanmugaratnam similarly noted that the Singapore and Tatarstan sides had already signed three agreements in education and other fields, and that two more memoranda were in the works.

TIDA Chief Executive Linar Yakupov presented to those present the investment opportunities in Tatarstan, among them Kazan Smart City and Innopolis.
