In Tatarstan the first stage of the project "Creation of Sviyazhsky interregional multimodal center" is completed, said President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov during a business breakfast of the Ministry of Transport of Russia on December 3rd.
The project was created for the consolidation of road, rail and river cargo traffic with the purpose of development and maintenance of international transport corridors. At present, the total traffic volume in the Republic of Tatarstan is about 45 million tons per year, by 2020 more than 25 percent of cargo traffic is planned to refocus on Sviazhskiy logistics center, and by 2030 - more than 40 percent.
"The September Message of the President of Tatarstan has set the task to create in the republic the third special economic zone - based on Sviyazhsky multimodal center. It is very important that the first phase of the project has been successfully completed, an infrastructure base was set up. The total funding of the first phase of the project is 8 billion rubles, 6.5 of which - funds from the federal budget. Later the SEZ will attract private investment - both domestic and foreign", said Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Chief Executive Taliya Minullina.
In the first stage of the project at the expense of national resources has been completed site preparations and provided power, has been completed the construction of federal facilities - the quay wall with the possibility of making any type of cargo of sea and river vessels, rail sidings, the road with the traffic intersection connecting the center with federal highway M-7 "Volga". The equipment of Sviyazhsk railway station has been upgraded.
The project of Sviyazhskiy interregional multimodal logistics center makes Tatarstan core of transport and logistics transport at the intersection of international transport corridors "North-South" and "East-West". The project will optimize the transportation performed by rail, river and road transport among Europe and China, and within the country.
