Davos – 2016 has announced the “Fourth revolution”
The forum is expected to discuss how long solar-powered non-stop flight can last, who will go through Eurasia along the Silk Road and how IT-technologies will make production cheaper.
The 46th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) opened on 19 January in Davos. Over 2.5 thousand leaders of senior managers, in particular more than 40 Heads of State and Government, about thousand managers of multinational companies are brought together to attend Forum events in Swiss city. Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov represents Tatarstan as a member of Russian delegation. Today he took part in the “Around the World without Fuel or Fear” session dedicated to the explorers who have broken the record for the world`s longest solo flight using solar energy only. Also the Head of the Republic attended the “New era for mineral resources” session where study on the impacts of global economic situation on the business in commodity- dependent economies was discussed.
This year one of the world`s largest economic forums will last until January 22. The Forum full program consists of over 300 sessions. The main theme of this year is the Fourth Industrial Revolution or “Industry 4.0” as it is also called. The matter will concern about future directions for the development of the industries. It is already clear that the advent of IT-technologies radically making production cheaper became the main trend. “Industry 4.0” unites not only machine tools but also conveyors and even entire factories. Critical current challenges, such as climate change and migration problems are among the issues on the agenda.
The Russian delegation is headed by Vice-Premier, Russian Presidential envoy in the Far East Yuri Trutnev. It is evident from the choice of the head of delegation that the Russian substantive agenda will be devoted to the Far East and integration of our and the Asia-Pacific region`s economies. Yuri Trutnev, ex-minister of finance Aleksei Kudrin, and head of Vnesheconombank Vladimir Dmitriev will speak at a special section “Forecast for Russia”. “Eurasia and the Modern Silk Road” session is among the most interesting topics for Russia. Silk Road development project is important not only for Russia and China but to other countries involved in global economy as well. This project covers the area producing 55% of world GDP and has about 75% of explored energy reserves. This session is of special interest for domestic business.
Despite the times of crisis, many positive things are happening in Russia. However they are underreported in foreign publications. Therefore, the fact that a special edition of American magazine “Foreign Policy” distributed at the Davos Forum contains an article about Tatarstan deserving particular attention. Rustam Minnikhanov presents investment attractiveness of Tatarstan Republic to global economic establishment on the pages of this authoritative and influential magazine. Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Chief Executive Taliya Minullina invites to ensure that cooperation with Republic is profitable and reliable.
“Davos is one of the most authoritative global platforms. Our allies - global media gives full support to Tatarstan in promotion of territory branding. This year in the framework of Forum in Davos we cooperate with American publication which has issued the material about investment opportunities in Russia. Thanks to good preparatory work Tatarstan makes a statement from the pages of business magazine” - said Taliya Minullina.
