Will Naberezhnye Chelny become a “breadbasket” of Tatarstan?

Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Chief Executive Taliya Minullina participated in the session of Naberezhnye Chelny City Council. Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, heads of major enterprises of the city, Territories` Councils chairpersons and other authorities were invited to the event.

“Agency’s activities are closely connected with industrial parks of Naberezhnye Chelny. Our big investors such as “Kiekert”, “Koluman”, “Haier” companies have chosen this particular territory for placing their plants. Moreover, in January Naberezhnye Chelny was officially granted the status of advanced development territory which is an excellent chance for economy diversification and creation of hundreds of new workplaces. I am sure, preferential terms for residents as well as successful case stories of already operating foreign investors will attract even more investment. It is what we call «Money to money». Who knows, maybe in the nearest future, development of traditional kinds of economic activities as well as new ones will allow Naberezhnye Chelny to change image from mono-city to Tatarstan “breadbasket”?” – thinks Taliya Minullina.

Results of socioeconomic development of the city in 2015 and tasks for 2016 were discussed at the meeting. Thus, according to Nail Magdeev, mayor of the city, industrial production volume amounted in 185026, 5 mln rubles, which is 80, 2 % in comparable prices to last year results. However, there was a 108% increase (35399, 7 mln rubles) in the amount of civil and installation works. By volume of own produced goods, food (105%) and cellulose and paper (112, 6%) industries have shown growth. Mayor of the city well known for its automotive industry, specified attracting investment into Tatarstan economy as the key task for 2016. 

After a break, participants of the meeting discussed issues of public hearings on the project of budget execution review of Naberezhnye Chelny for 2015, making amendments to the decision of State council “On land tax” and to charter and general work plan of Naberezhnye Chelny, as well as public hearings on the project of Socio-Economic Development Strategy of Naberezhnye Chelny until 2030.
