A friend in need is a friend indeed: Turkey opens 2 plants in Tatarstan
The Minister of economy of Turkey arrived to Tatarstan to take part in ceremony of opening of two flat glass and automotive glass production plants of "Trakya Glass RUS". Mr. Nihat Zeybekçi accompanied by the Ambassador of Turkey to Moscow Ümit Yardım will have a meeting with the heads of Turkish companies and take part in SEZ "Alabuga" supervisory board session.
The Minister of economy of Turkey will hold a row of business-meetings with entrepreneurs of Tatarstan, get acquainted with investments of "Kastamonu Entegre" producing floor coverings, furniture and laminated panels and also being the resident of SEZ "Alabuga".
SEZ "Alabuga" is one of the best economic zones in Europe and at the same time an engine of Tatarstan's economy. Such large Russian and international companies as 3M, Ford, Armstrong, Saint-Gobain, Air Liquide, Rockwool, Interskol are among enterprises which decided to open production faclities in "Alabuga". Today, "Alabuga" comprises 48 residents with total private investments of 153,7 billion rubles.
Turkish group of companies "Şişecam Group" operating in 13 countries all over the world, selling products to 15 countries, with 21 thousand of employees have chosen Tatarstan for building new plants in order to become one of the world's top 3 in producing goods of its category. The President of the Republic of Tatarstan, government officials and representatives of the diplomatic corps of Turkey, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan have also taken part in the official opening ceremony for the plants with investment value of $ 310 million ($210 million for production of construction glass and $100 million for production of automotive glass).
Since 2002 "Şişecam Group" invested in Russian economy over $1,1 billion total.
"Today 2 new plants were officially opened. These are Turkish investments which in cumulative volume hold leading positions in Tatarstan. Honestly speaking, the plants were launched in the test mode earlier. We were waiting for warming in political environment. Business is working anyway, if it is profitable. As they say, world belongs to the patient..." - the Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency noted.
