Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Chief Executive Taliya Minullina took part in the meeting of the Tatarstan Security Council, chaired by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov.
“Food security in Russia: monitoring, tendencies and challenges” was the main topic of the meeting. Food Security Doctrine is governed by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation and is in effect until 2020. In accordance with its provisions, corresponding figures of domestic products availability were developed in order to make Russia independent from other countries concerning food-secure.
Thus, for example, country should be provided with home manufactured grain and potato by 95%, with milk and dairy products by 90%, with meat by 85%, with fish, sugar and seed oil by 80%. However, problem of bad food on the shelves of popular supermarkets was reported at the Tatarstan Security Council. Supervisory activities showed that 2916 food items were checked in 2015 and 88 per cent of them had violations. 2405 batches were excluded from turnover which is more than 28 tones. Activity of 57 economic entities was paused.
“Today, import substitution strategy became one of the priorities inside the country. Business participates in its implementation actively. It is a challenge. And product counterfeiting is a problem. Today it had arisen critically. According to Rosselkhoznadzor data, share of counterfeiting diary products (with addition of vegetable oil) amounted in 11 per cent in 2015 and in some cases – in 50 per cent! As Rosselkhoznadzor reported, share of counterfeiting in Tatarstan is 27,2 per cent; it means almost each third product. There is only one option: tightening of State control on producers and sellers and personal consumer literacy. And then, by combined efforts, we will enjoy the food” – thinks Taliya Minullina.
